LE COACHING STAFF ALL STAR DE COLORADO POUR 2025

Depuis l'arrivée de Deion Sanders, alias "Coach Prime" du côté de Boulder en 2023, les projecteurs se sont assurément tournés vers l'Université de Colorado.
En quittant Jackson State, Sanders n'était pas arrivé seul puisqu'en plus de ses deux fils Shedeur Sanders (QB) et Shilo Sanders (DB), il avait été également accompagné par le dernier vainqueur du Heisman trophy et futur premier tour de draft, le prodige dual multifonction Travis Hunter (il jouait receveur et cornerback dans les rangs universitaires).
En résulte une solide saison 2024 pour les Buffaloes, affichant 9 victoires pour quatre défaites et une participation au Alamo Bowl de San Antonio où les joueurs de Sanders se sont inclinés 36 à 14 face à BYU.
Certes l'Université de Buffalo va perdre plusieurs joueurs clés avec la draft NFL et le roster va être clairement modifié au cours de ces prochains mois mais les fans du Colorado n'en attendent pourtant pas moins de leur célébrité de coach pour la saison 2025.
En effet, le célèbre coach de Buffalo a clairement pour ambition de poursuivre sur sa bonne lancée depuis son arrivée dans la banlieue de Denver et son recrutement du coaching staff pour la saison à venir est tout simplement 5 étoiles.
Coaching Staff:
Déjà présent : Deion Sanders n'est plus à présenter, le hall of famer a eu une brillante carrière NFL en tant que cornerback, jouant 14 saisons pour cinq franchises, dont les Falcons, 49ers et Cowboys, avec qui il a remporté deux Super Bowls.
Warren Sapp : Analyste senior en contrôle de la qualité, qui a joué defensive tackle en NFL pendant 13 ans et a été le véritable point d'ancrage défensif des Tampa Bay Buccaneers durant 9 saisons avant de passer 4 ans chez les Raiders et qui coach avec Sanders depuis 2024.
Coach Prime a décidé de passer un cran au dessus avec soin coaching staff et a fait venir cette année encore plus d'expérience NFL avec :
Byron Leftwich : Il a joué quarterback en NFL pendant 10 ans (Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers). Il était le coordinateur offensif de Tampa Bay de 2019-22, a remporté un Super Bowl en entraînant Tom Brady en 2020 et a dirigé l'une des meilleures offensives de la ligue en 2021.
Marshall Faulk : Vient d'être embauché pour coacher les running backs, poste qu'il a occupé lui-même en NFL pendant 12 saisons (5 ans aux Colts et sept aux Rams), au cours desquelles il a clairement excellé (12 279 yards au sol, 100 touchdowns, 7 pro bowls, MVP du Super Bowl remporté en 2000 avec les St Louis Rams). Autant dire que ce tout nouveau coach (ce sera sa première expérience sur le banc de touche) sait de quoi il parle.
La dernière addition de choix pour le staff des Buffaloes est le coach de ligne défensive :
Domata Peko, 15 années en NFL où il a brillé notamment pendant 10 années sous les couleurs des Cincinnati Bengals.
Perspectives et Innovation
Les camps de printemps ont débuté pour Colorado et Coach Sanders tente à présent d'organiser des pratiques d'entraînement avec une autre université (Syracuse semblait très intéressé par l'idée), si la NCAA le permet.
Certains programmes ont décidé d'arrêter les spring games à partir de cette année mais l'Université de Colorado pourrait bien être la première à lancer ce qui ne s'est jamais encore fait au niveau universitaire : organiser des pratiques communes et un spring game contre une autre école. Cela se passe comme ça au niveau NFL lors des camps d'été mais pas au niveau universitaire.
Il va être intéressant de voir comment cette expérience et ce coaching de calibre NFL va se transférer sur les performances sur le terrain des joueurs de Boulder.
Les adversaires des Buffaloes de la conférence Big 12 ne devraient pas avoir le droit à une partie de plaisir lorsqu'ils affronteront cette version 2025 de l'Université du Colorado.
COLORADO’S ALL-STAR COACHING STAFF FOR 2025
Since the arrival of Deion Sanders, aka “Coach Prime,” in Boulder in 2023, all eyes have undoubtedly turned to the University of Colorado.
When he left Jackson State, Sanders didn’t come alone. Alongside him were his two sons, Shedeur Sanders (QB) and Shilo Sanders (DB), as well as the latest Heisman Trophy winner and future first-round NFL Draft pick, the ultra-versatile prodigy Travis Hunter, who played both wide receiver and cornerback at the college level.
The result? A solid 2024 season for the Buffaloes, finishing with a 9–4 record and earning a spot in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, where Sanders’ squad fell 36–14 to BYU.
Sure, Colorado is set to lose several key players to the NFL Draft, and the roster will undergo major changes in the coming months. Yet, Buffaloes fans expect nothing less than another step forward from their superstar coach in the 2025 season.
Coach Prime has made it clear—he intends to build on the momentum since his arrival in the Denver metro area. And his recruiting of a 2025 coaching staff is nothing short of five-star.
Coaching Staff
Already in place: Deion Sanders needs no introduction. A Hall of Famer, he had a brilliant NFL career as a cornerback, playing 14 seasons with five franchises, including the Falcons, 49ers, and Cowboys—winning two Super Bowls.
Warren Sapp – Senior Quality Control Analyst. Sapp was a dominant defensive tackle in the NFL for 13 seasons, serving as the defensive anchor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 9 years before finishing his career with 4 seasons as a Raider. He joined Sanders' staff in 2024.
Coach Prime decided to take things up a notch in 2025 by adding even more NFL experience:

Outlook & Innovation
Spring camps have kicked off for Colorado, and Coach Sanders is now pushing to organize joint practices with another university—Syracuse has reportedly shown strong interest—pending NCAA approval.
While some programs are choosing to drop spring games altogether starting this year, the University of Colorado might be the first to attempt something entirely new at the college level: joint practices and a spring game against another school. While this format is common in NFL summer training camps, it’s unprecedented in the NCAA.
It will be fascinating to see how this level of NFL experience and innovation translates into on-field performance for the players in Boulder. One thing is certain—opponents in the Big 12 shouldn’t expect an easy ride when they face the 2025 edition of the University of Colorado.
